Summery proposal

A small innovative company LTD "MMK", Moscow, Russia, is developing devices for the control of wearout of friction nodes of different technological equipment for the analysis of lubricating oil in realtime (without stopping the equipment and its disassembly of its friction nodes). The usage of these devices will: prevent emergency situations which as well will result in increased wearout of friction nodes, assign dates for the repair work not under the rules, but depending on the actual condition of the machinery of various purposes; predict the residual life of their work.

The company is looking for: investors, partners for further joint research, and partners for the production of proposed instruments under license.

Proposal description

At the present time, there is actual need for the diagnosis and monitoring control of the friction nodes of gas turbine engines in the petroleum and aviation industries, ICE, gear boxes of cars, motors and other machinery.

LTD "MMK" offers to the market the complex of devices, codenamed "VECTOR" ("Integrated united control of tribodiagnosics of the equipment of different purposes"), for control and diagnostics of friction nodes in realtime (without stopping and dismantling).  Devices of the complex can be equipped with equipment of various purposes in many industries, both in its production, and during its acquisition (of this the equipment) in retail trade.  Low cost of the proposed instruments makes them available not only for large but also for small businesses.

Devices of the complex "Vector" (being an on-board embedded control complex) have high sensitivity (about 0.0001 g of the particle masses / Pb, Sn, Al, Fe / of wearout on the accumulative-type sensors and 0.01 g / t / Pb, Sn, Al, Fe / on flow-type sensors), and reliability, and also posess an easy installation on the equipment (with virtually no changes done in its structure).

The proposed complex`s devices have the following realization:

  1. Devices with sensors of storage type. The principle of this sensor type is based on the cumulative deposition of wear particles from lubricating system to the sensor, followed by its mass registration by electronics.
  2. Devices with flow-type sensors. The principle of flow-type sensor based on the passage of the wearout particles with the flow of lubricant through the sensitive sensor of element with registration of its concentrations by electronics.

Devices with sensors of cumulative and flow type are pre-tested or gas-turbine pumping units (GPU type "Sollar" 10GKN, "Wave", etc.), MiG-29, KAMAZ trucks with diesel engines, on the vessel`s "Heroes of Shipka" engine (Black Company), railway power plants with diesel drive (engine type 5D49), and an excavator EKG-12 grade (coal mining). Everywhere there are received positive reviews.

Developers of complex "VECTOR" have more than 15 years of experience of creation and control -diagnostic instrumentation of machines of various types. They have more than 100 scientific publications on the subject, received 8 patents.

At the International Exhibition of Inventions, new engineering and technology, "Geneva - 2009" (Switzerland) and "Archimedes-2010" (Moscow) for the development of a "complex equipment "VECTOR”(" Integrated united control of tribodiagnosics of the equipment of different purposes") there are obtained, respectively, a bronze and a silver medal.

Innovate aspects and advantages of the proposal

The proposed project allows to carry out operation of any equipment (which has nodes of friction), not by rules but by its actual technical condition, which maximizes the service life of the equipment; get timely information about the appearance of wearout failures and prevent crashes; assess the degree of break-in and wearout of the basic friction nodes of various machines and mechanisms in various industries without their stopping and dismantling during operation (in realtime), but also indirectly allows to evaluate lubricity oils and promptly appoint a replacement time of oil in the lubrication system.

It should be emphasized that the project will take place in the virtual absence of real competition, both in Russia and abroad, including the developed Western countries, due to the low cost of the proposed means of built-in control, built entirely on the domestic (single, easily accessible and inexpensive) element basis with the possibility of production on any instrument-making plants with no additional costs for specialized equipment for mass production/

The novelty of the project "VECTOR" is to develop a qualitatively new instrumentation for monitoring and diagnostics of friction nodes of different equipment in realtime.

Current project status

“VECTOR” project has a drawn up Abstract summary and Business Plan. On a complex of devices "VECTOR" is conducted research and obtained 8 patents of the Russian Federation. Prototypes that have been pilot testing in the aviation, automotive, railway, shipbuilding, coal, oil and gas industry, have received a positive evaluation.

To implement the project "VECTOR", it requires an investment of $ 500,000 for a period of 2-3 years. Payback period - 2.5 years.

Investors' rights - a proportion of the amount of profits up to 49%.

In carrying out joint ventures with partner(s) on the implementation of devices for the diagnosis of equipment, it is expected to further improve the equipment of the complex "VECTOR" and co-patenting.

At the present time, to control friction nodes of different machines in many industries (heavy engineering, automotive, aviation, petroleum and other industries), various methods and techniques of analysis are used: spectral, particle size, ferrographical ,photometric, integrated (on-board) control and several others. Constructed on the basis of these methods, appliances (except built-in test equipment) implement this control by taking samples for further research to obtain the corresponding result control.

Comparative analysis of the known methods and built on their realization of devices and systems shows that the most promising ones are integrated (on-board) control systems, as their usage allows you to monitor wearout of equipment in real time without interrupting workflow.

The main sector of distribution  for the complex`s devices "VECTOR" on the proposed project are companies that use in their work serially produced technology equipment of various applications (motors, compressors, turbines, aircraft, engine, etc.) in such industries of Russia, and CIS countries, as heavy machinery , automotive, aviation, shipbuilding, oil and gas, agricultural, machine tool and other industries.

Under the project, it is assumed that the complex`s devices will be used at these facilities as additional options during acquisition of equipment purchased directly at the workplace to improve the reliability and life-cycle of operation. In other words, complex`s devices are to be used as optional complexes for commercially available equipment of various purposes in the above mentioned industries of Russia and CIS countries.

An additional success in terms of future demand for complex`s instruments "VECTOR" in this sector of distribution can be considered that they cost much less than the analogs and potential competitors, including Western, which significantly reduces the payback period for this project.

Conclusion

The proposed project, covering a number of key industries, will allow in case of its successful implementation significantly improve reliability, increase service life and lower repair costs of different equipment in all the above mentioned areas (and without the usage of a significant costs for its implementation) and, consequently, will reduce the cost of it in total GDP of Russia and CIS countries.

Background Depreciation is the cause of failure of more than 80% of the parts of machinery. Overcoming the frictional forces at the nodes of machinery consumes 30-40% of all of the world's energy, and loss of funds in industrialized countries due to the friction and the accompanying wearout reach 4-5% of national income.
